Basic: Rolls:


California Roll

Ingredients
  • Ready made sushi rice for 4
  • 2 sheets nori seaweed sheets
  • ¼ English cucumber, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • ½ avocado pear
  • ¼ pound imitation crabmeat, flaked
Preparation

Place one sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and take a small handful of sushi rice and spread a thin layer of rice onto the nori sheet, pressing into a thin layer. Arrange half of the cucumber, avocado and crabmeat in a line down the center of the rice. Lift the end of the mat and gently roll it over the ingredients. Roll it forward to make a complete circular roll. Use both hands over the mat to firm the roll into place. Using a wet, sharp knife cut the roll cross-sectionally in half, and then cut each half into 3 equal sections, to make 6 small rolls in total. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
